This week, 20 million residents of New Delhi, India suffocated in heavy fog, the New York Times reported, the worst in 17 years.
The Times points out that the air is so bad that continuous breathing is equivalent to smoking more than two packs a day.
The school has been closed for three days, although experts warn that the air at home may not be much better than outside.
