The air pollution emergency in New Delhi is a solution.
After decades of pollution, New York City, through strict local control and the Clean Air Act of 1970, found pollution comparable to Indian cities and other global metropolises.
In response, the Delhi government suspended construction activities, temporarily shut down a local power plant and asked the state government to control a major source of pollution, namely, seasonal incineration of crop waste.
If, as the Clean Air Act of the United States has largely succeeded in solving the source of headwinds with a comprehensive national approach, cities in India will be left to manage local hotspots where they have greater control.

The United States has taken effective health care measures to save a large number of people from disease and death every year.
India should completely change its fragile aviation laws and reap the same benefits from them.
The United States should pay attention to the recent disaster in Delhi and protect and strengthen the Clean Air Act when the new government takes office.
