how to save water with your humidifier.

A whole-
The house humidifier can make you more comfortable in winter, it can make your house feel warmer and make you reduce the heat, thus helping you to become greener.
But most humidifiers waste a lot of water.
Here\'s how to reduce waste.
I installed a whole recently.
Household humidifier on my heater.
I bought a Honeywell because it was rated Energy Star.
However, it is clear that the Energy Star does not apply to the use of water, because every time it puts a gallon into the air, it will dump at least 5 gallons into the drain.
It works by dripping water through the filter and blowing air on the filter.
Any water that has not been taken away by the air blowing past will flow down the drain.
I decided to re-cycle the water into the humidifier instead of dumping it.
From two, five. gallon buckets.
Tape the barrel together at the bottomto-
Bottom and drill a pilot hole at the bottom of the two barrels.
You may also want to remove the handle on the bottom bucket as it will get in the way of you.
Now pull the barrel open and drill a 1 \"hole in the top bucket with a guide hole and a 2\" hole in the bottom bucket.
Also drill another 1 \"hole on the side of the bottom barrel, about 5\" from the bottom \".
First look at the pictures in the next steps and you will see why these holes go where they do.
You need a pump, a valve and hose for the toilet, and some plumbing components.
I used a $10 aquarium pump from the port freight company.
The pump has a 1/2 outlet so I need several adapters to put it in the 3/16 hose on the humidifier.
You may also need a copper tee and part to extend the water line to the vicinity of the bucket.
I\'m not very good at welding copper so I changed from tee to PVC joint and I used adhesive PVC for the rest of the time.
Put a toilet supply valve at the end, which will install a 3/8 compression fitting for your toilet supply hose.
You might want the kind of toilet fill valve that lets the float ride on the valve, not the old one --
Old-fashioned types of stems and balloons floating.
The old one is what I have and you will see what I have to do to make it fit.
The hard part for me is to find out all the connections, from pipes to hoses to smaller ones.
I went to the hardware store several times.
Remember the holes you drilled in the bucket?
Install the toilet filling valve using the 1 \"hole on the top barrel.
It will stretch out from the bottom of the bucket, into the bottom of the bucket, the only purpose of the bucket is to take the bucket off the floor.
Connect the supply line through the hole on the side of the bottom barrel to the valve.
Connect the other end to your water supply system as if you were connecting a new toilet.
Try not to use it as a toilet, though.
Connect the pump to the humidifier (
I unplug the hose from the water supply solenoid of the humidifier and attach it to the thorn fitting on the pump hose).
Connect the pump to the heater.
You may want to use the \"EAC\" connection of the heater, which provides 110VAC when the heater fan is running (
Is it an electronic air purifier? ).
If you can wire through the switch so that you can turn off the pump during the summer or when you don\'t run the humidifier, this is the best.
Finally, put the bleach toilet cleaner in the bucket and cover the bucket.
This water will get into your air supply, so we don\'t want to bring any veterans disease to anyone.
Last point: I\'ll find a water if I haven\'t paid to install the humidifier yet
Save the humidifier instead of going to all these troubles.
It only makes sense if you are trying to improve the old humidifier, but now there is a better one.
