Bangalore: 500 air purifiers will be installed at various intersections in the city.
The decision was made at a recent BBMP council meeting, following the installation of an air purifier in the Hudson circle that helps capture dust particles
Heavy metal particles and organic carbon at the junction.
However, civic institutions will not spend taxpayers\' money on this effort.
The company commissioned a private player, aTechTron, to install the air purifier at his own expense.
The price of each air purifier is around 2 rupees.
Lakh and the whole project will most likely be carried out under corporate social responsibility.
Rajeev Krishna, founder of ATechTron, said: \"We will have a discussion with the BBMP engineer to determine the ideal location for installing the air purifier . \".
BBMP, however, is attractive to the agency: the location should not be used for advertising purposes.
The mayor, Gangambike BBMP Mallikarjun, directed the Commissioner to give permission to the agency.
Rajeev said: \"The air now
In the prevention and control of pollution, the monitoring activities have been overdone and have not helped us.
In order to make room for the development of the growing population and vehicles, we are losing green coverage, which, as a natural purifier, inhibits air pollution to a certain extent.
We have to look for alternatives, such as outdoor air purifiers, because they absorb particles that trees and plants cannot absorb.
\"The filter of the air purifier can absorb finer dust particles and release cleaner air.
Each purifier can cover an area within a range of 60 feet.
According to BBMP officials, the city has requested the construction of the facility at 44,000 intersections.
Hudson Circle collects 19 grams of dust in 8 hours. The air purifier in the Hudson Circle is installed by aTechTron.
Filters for collecting dust are sent to KSPCB-and NABL-
Authorized laboratory for analysis.
According to the lab report, 19.
The first-class filter of Hudson\'s circulating air purifier collects 1g of dust during eight peak hours.
For more than a month, we captured an average of 750 grams to 1 kg kilograms of fine dust particles consisting of PM2. 5, PM10, air-
Heavy metal particles, organic carbon and others contained in the air-
Rajeev says this is caused by contaminants.
He added that outdoor air purifiers are required at all major traffic intersections, middle roads with heavy traffic and construction sites.
They will help to understand exactly what people are breathing, especially heavy metals, which are dangerous but not detected by widely used air pollution monitoring instruments.
Identifying particles will also help to identify specific sources of pollution, he added.
