DETROIT (AP)—U. S.
Auto companies such as General Motors, Tesla and Ford are stumbling this year in the reliability rankings reported by consumers as readers report that their cars have appeared
The magazine and the website said that all of the United StatesS. -
Headquarters brands fell to the lower half of 29 brands in the ranking.
Lexus and Toyota topped the list again.
The consumer report received more than 500,000 responses to its subscriber\'s annual survey, which used 2000-
Forecast 2017 model years of vehicle reliability in 2019.
A survey released on Wednesday found that readers have more problems in improving fuel economy technology than electronic information entertainment systems, which have long been a worry for automakers and car owners.
Jack Fisher, the magazine\'s director of automotive testing, said the mechanical problems with small turbocharged engines and multi-gear transmissions could put people in trouble, not just frustrated with speech recognition or other technologies.
\"The situation is worse for consumers,\" Fisher said . \".
\"I\'m glad I can\'t pair my phone five times instead of getting stuck on the side of the road at one time.
Mazda, Subaru, Kia, Infiniti, Audi, BMW, Mini and Hyundai are among the top 10 brands.
Volvo has the worst reliability, followed by Cadillac, Tesla, Ram and GMC.
Asian or Korean brands account for 7 of the top 10.
Tesla dropped 6 last year and is now 27.
GM Buick, usually top
10 Terminator, down 11 points to No. 19.
Ford is the highest. ranked U. S.
But the ranking dropped by three. 18.
Fisher said that domestic brands are largely plagued by problems with new models.
\"Traditionally, the best reliability is the old model.
We saw the drop as they cycled in the fleet . \" Said Fisher.
As far as Tesla is concerned, when readers report problems with air suspension and door handles, the reliability of the model\'s luxury electric vehicle has dropped from \"above average\" to \"below average \".
The low reliability score makes the model\'s \"recommended purchase\" status in the magazine more expensive.
Due to the Falcon problem, Tesla\'s Model x suv is still \"much worse than average\"
Wing doors and touch screens, while the simpler model 3 quality-
The market car ranks \"average\" in terms of reliability \".
Tesla uses a more complex Model S to provide fullwheel-
Driving and air suspension standards, Fisher said.
He said that the company\'s weekly hardware and software changes have increased the risk of problems.
GM\'s brand has been hurt by mechanical problems, including its new large crossover suv, such as the transmission of Buick Enclave, Chevrolet Traverse and GMC Acadia.
Fisher said Buick\'s enclave was the brand\'s most reliable vehicle before redesigning, and now it\'s the worst, dragging down Buick\'s score.
Cadillac, he said, has driven the development of new consumers --
But this leads to reliability problems.
Almost the opposite is the Toyota and Lexus luxury brands, which occupy the top two for the sixth consecutive year, Fisher said.
He said Toyota was slow to introduce new technology until other automakers launched Apple CarPlay a few years ago.
\"If you\'re going slow in the market and you\'re going slow in technology, that\'s how you get reliability, and that\'s why Toyota is so consistent,\" he said . \".
Consumer Reports say there is not enough data to rank Alpha Romeo, Fiat, Jaguar, Land Rover, Maserati, Mitsubishi or Smart.
Compared with minor issues such as speech recognition or wind noise, the Journal pays more attention to mechanical and safety issues.
