Dutch consumer goods giant Unilever said Tuesday it will buy Swedish Airlines
Blueair, a purifier company that has not disclosed the amount.
The deal will help the company enter the air purification business and allow its Indian subsidiary, Hindustan Unilever (HUL)
Makers of Surf Excel, Lux and lifeguards compete with companies such as Panasonic, Philips, Eureka Forbes and Kent in the country\'s emerging but growing air purifier market.
In addition to FMCG, HUL also sells pure it brand water purifiers in the country.
A Unilever spokesperson told TOI: \"Blueair is very in line with our definition of home care, including water and air purification, and has a strong synergy with our existing water purification business in India and China
\"About 3% of our home care business is clean water.
Bengt Rittri, founder of Blueair, told TOI, \"about two years ago, Blueair set up its own organization in India.
We have seen strong growth since then, especially in Delhi and Mumbai.
Research and the market said: \"At present, the price of China\'s air purifier market is Rs 200, which is expected to reach Rs 1,400 by 2021.
Chinese handset maker Xiaomi is also planning to launch air purifiers in India.
