NEW YORK --
It may not be the worst period, but it is certainly not the best.
There is no other saying: 2007 is a brutal year for mosthome furniture producers.
HFN\'s exclusive annual survey of the top 50 suppliers showed that about half of the industry\'s largest suppliers experienced negative or flat growth in 2007.
By contrast, only about the third of the top 50 in 2006.
Their top line was squashed by one.
Two major blows to the collapse of the real estate market, as well as a sharp rise in the cost of consumer goods such as gasoline and food, household goods suppliers found themselves in the whirlpool of a perfect storm.
While this ranking only reflects 2007 on the calendar, the storm only got worse in the first six months of 2008.
There is no sign of a rebound in the real estate market, even once --
Strong resistance forces like the Northeast, especially the New York area, feel heavy.

The situation in some other industries has not improved.
Both of the two largest textile suppliers-Springs Global and WestPoint Home-have fallen by at least 20%.
