
The burning wildfire smoke near Yosemite National Park forced thousands of tourists to change their plans during summer vacations and hurt tourists
Independent businesses serving seasonal tourists.
Park officials have ordered all visitors to leave Yosemite Valley, the park's most popular area, and the closure is expected to last at least until Sunday.
July is usually the second.
The busiest month in Yosemite has attracted nearly 600,000 visitors to marvel at its towering peaks, towering rock walls and wildlife.
Only August is busier.
Park officials say the closure applies to all hotels, camps and visitor services in Yosemite Valley and Wawona.
Officials said an estimated 2,000 people were in the park as of Tuesday, and all tourists were taken out.
People who live in the valley for work are allowed to stay, but are warned that additional road closures and evacuation may occur.

The Ferguson Fire, which began on the night of July 13, has spread to rough forests about 60 square miles west of the park.
The fire itself was not in direct danger to Yosemite, but the smoke prompted the authorities to take action.
Park workers are accepting air purifiers, and the government is setting up "clean rooms" to provide breathing opportunities for people who are affected by smoke and cannot leave the area easily.

They say the mountains are very similar to ghost boats in the distance.

As the Yosemite Valley is filled with smoke and ash, the time for a day's visit is quickly shortened.
"When we saw the visitor center closed, we knew it was definitely not good," Lyon said . ".
Skelton's cottage has been closed for a few days, partly because roads in some areas have been closed and firefighters can move around better.
He understands why roads need to be closed, but he wants to know why the whole area is evacuated, says Skelton.
Skelton, a former volunteer firefighter, said his situation was much worse.
"The closure is getting worse and worse.
"The fire did not deteriorate," he said . ".
"I saw more severe smoke in El Portal.
Not so bad.
It's certainly not that bad in the valley.
