Sanchez, who cleaned the apartment after the FBI left, said the charges against Bulger did not weaken his feelings for the couple.
"We are really friends," Sanchez said . "
"They are still Charlie and Carol to me.
The FBI took almost everything from the apartment.
But the black curtains are still there, and Bulger's futon and some harmless things like frozen food, dozens of paper towels and a few rolls of toilet paper are also hoarded by the couple.
The holes in the walls are left for repair by the building staff.
On a hole in the wall of the main bathroom, the gangster apparently wrote a mysterious message.
He scribbled "mouse" with a pen, and then drew an arrow pointing to "done all ".
He wrote "Fin" in Spanish below ". Muerte. ” End. Death.
Sanchez said a special agent at the FBI asked him what he thought the message meant.
"I don't know," he said . "
Three months after the couple was caught, the apartment was renovated and almost completely decorated in white.
The gray old carpet was replaced by plush and cream-colored.

The new fridge and LG stainless steel dishwasher purchased by the couple still exist.
Rents increased from $1,165 a month to $2,772 when they were arrested.
Two people, friends, signed the lease last month.
Two weeks ago, Sanchez received a letter from Bulger, who was held without bail at the Plymouth County Correction House for trial.
Sanchez declined to provide a copy of the letter, but generally spoke about the contents of the letter.
"He said he was sorry he couldn't say goodbye and he never told me who he really was," Sanchez said . ".
He said bug seemed willing to die in prison.
Because of his age, it is difficult to believe that he can face the trial alive.
"It's all over for me," Sanchez said . "
But he wrote that he hoped that Grieg, who was not released on bail in Rhode Island prison now, could still be released.
Sanchez said that somehow the couple was still able to communicate because Buger wrote to him saying that Greg had sent him a message.
"She told him that she would not regret 16 years of living with him," Sanchez said . ".
