Washington (AFP)-
The Commerce Department announced on Friday that Chinese manufacturers are dumping washing machines on the U. S. market at artificially low prices, putting them under punitive tariffs of up to 52%.
A year ago, U. S. appliance maker Whirlpool filed a lawsuit in a market with a market capitalization of $1.
1 billion in 2015, a Chinese firm was dumped in a large washing machine up to 52.
5% below the reasonable price.
The US Department of Commerce has ordered importers to start paying punitive tariffs immediately, but the final step is in January 23 when the International Trade Commission will decide whether dumping has harmed US companies. In this case, penalties for Chinese products will be imposed permanently.
Samsung Electronics in Suzhou has the largest sales gap, below fair value, while other producers have a profit margin of 44.
LG, Nanjing-3%-
Panda appliances with the smallest gap, 32%.
The latest anti-dumping incident occurred on the 15 th anniversary of China's accession to the World Trade Organization, which should be a sign that China officially recognizes the market economy.
China wants this status because it will make it harder to file anti-dumping cases, but the United States has said it is not prepared to change the way it handles them, as Japan does.
