undercover investigation faults energy star program - electric air purifier

When you see the Energy Star seal on the product, you will think that you are saving energy and money.
After a secret investigation by the Government Accountability Bureau, the issue is now being questioned (GAO).

The old Energy Star program may award labels to products that are not worth it.
Gao set up a fake company--
Find it easy to get an Energy Star rating for their fake products because there is very little verification.
"I think the American public has the right to know what this project is, not yet," Greg Kurtz of GAO told ABC News.
"Now it's a self for many products
Certification process.
"High investigators have set up four fake companies-including websites-and submitted Energy Star applications for their fictional products.
There are 15 fake products that have won the Energy Star seal.
Including 1 feet-and-a-half-high gasoline-
The electric alarm clock and air purifier is actually a space heater with a feather duster attached to the top.
"Our air purifier has chicken feather duster installed on the space heater, which is a very ridiculous product and is easy to get certified," Kurtz said . ".
Gao's product is fake, but its meaning is true.
LG and Kenmore have recently been found selling refrigerators with Energy Star labels that don't actually meet the standard.
Later, the companies reimbursed consumers and sent them kits to improve the efficiency of refrigerators.
Scott Case, a consumer, told ABC News, "so I bought an appliance for $2,500, which I think will help reduce my electricity costs and my global warming footprint, not even close.
"The government says it will now start testing products before granting the coveted energy star seal.
