TRIED & TESTED / White Power: Do electric toothbrushes make your teeth gleam brighter? Our panel puts five models to the test - best oral irrigator
You may not have noticed, but the last week has been the national Smile Week, part of the movement that has allowed us to take care of our teeth more --
And an excuse to encourage us to invest in more heavy equipment-
More important than a plastic toothbrush
Electric toothbrushes are not necessarily cleaner than regular toothbrushes-
If you brush your teeth correctly, that is.
But investing some cash in a gadget can be an incentive to stop your daily life from becoming sloppy.
We asked four dental students to test some of the electric toothbrushes and plaque removal instruments that work the same to see which works best.
The PANELDenise Faulks, simavera, Sharon Goodwin, Neil McMillan, all dental students.
The test team gave each appliance marks on how easy it is to operate around the mouth, how good it is to clean the teeth and gums, and how quiet it is to operate.
These marks are then converted to star rating. **** BRAUN . TX. -ORAL-
B. 5 plaque was removed with TIMERpounds 64.
99 although the most expensive (
In addition to the Braun Center below, it includes a waterjet unit)
The equipment was honored.
The panel marked it at the top. ' The best -
Very small and beautiful head;
It feels like it's right between the teeth and the gums.
Most quiet and comfortable.
"I even used it when I was hangover," said Denise Faulks . ".
This is the favorite of Seema Yousef: "It's not noisy, it's also the easiest to handle.
The round brush is good for cleaning around the gums.
Sharon Goodwin said: "My teeth felt clean later.
Be careful not to apply too much pressure to avoid trauma to the gums.
"Like good luck (below)
This has a timing device-
But it is recommended that you brush for two minutes, do not brush for three minutes. ***BRAUN ORAL-
B. The concentration of OC5 plaque removal agent was 119.
This expensive device consists of oral equipment.
B. plaque removal agent and a separate "oral wash" gadget (
It can also be 69 separately. 99)
It sprays water to remove stubborn food particles and massage the gums.
The effect of sterilization spots is good, but the panel believes that there is not much increase in water spray.
Neil Macmillan says there is no water jet and there is no real improvement on the Brown.
Seema yousefer agreed: "The idea of a flushing device sounds impressive but doesn't work very well.
It's really troublesome to do this every night because there's a lot of cleaning work after each use to make sure the bacteria don't build up in water containers.
Also, if you brush your teeth well and use floss, there should not be any large chunks between teeth that need to be removed.
The cheapest brush, though not matched with the winning Braun appliance, scored high and the tester pointed out some shortcomings.
"It's easy to brush your teeth around the mouth, but the back teeth seem to be missing.
Seema Yousef says an angled brush head can reach them more easily.
Sharon Goodwin says the device is too long and too heavy for a child, but a small brush head helps clean efficiently.
Simple, unobtrusive design, two speeds are useful.
Faulfaulks believes that the movement of the brush head has no effect, adding: "It makes all my teeth vibrate and feel uncomfortable . ".
Interplak Series 300 household plaque removal device pounds 62.
95 when the bristles rotate and then reverse, this brush works by keeping the head still.
You can also change the speed.
Our group had different views on the cleaning effect, but overall the device was rated as the worst.
Most people think that it is cumbersome and heavy to turn around the mouth, and the panel also voted that this is the most noisy.
"You need a mouth as big as an elephant.
Not suitable for children at all.
"Make your whole head rattle, but at the same time the bristles don't seem to be strong," said Denise Faulks . ".
"The brush head is too big, the brush hair is too far apart to clean thoroughly," commented Sharon Goodwin . ".
"It vibrates so much that you feel the vibration on your arm.
The opinion of Seema Yousef is that I can't think of anything to say.
Neil Macmillan's view is more favorable, and he gives it the highest score for effective cleaning --
Although he admitted the price was expensive.
* Good luck up to DENTACONTROL power up toothbrushpods 39.
Despite the light weight and ease of handling of this brush, 99 testers did not rate it as one of the most effective brushes.
Seema Yousef likes to tilt the head, which she thinks makes it easier to clean the difficult areas of the mouth.
She added, however, that the brush was not smooth.
When running, the brush head often falls off the appliance, which is a bit annoying.
Sharon Goodwin found that it was not easy to operate behind the mouth because the tool was too long, she said.
Faulfaulks hates it: "It feels like some kind of pneumatic drill bit.
I did try to use it more than once but ended up with my own toothbrush.
A bonus point is the timing device that will beep you when you approach the recommended three-minute brushing time.
You can also buy a high
Pressure spray and spray (
For cleaning between teeth)
Same price, combination of toothbrush and water --
Plane for 7999.
