35 is the right choice for the RCAF new fighter, and it is not disputed that at least one pilot aircraft is required to control and defend Canadian airspace and its proximity.

Other countries have similar intentions.
But as far as I know, no country is seriously planning to use drones for domestic air defense at this time.
Imagine that if, in the case of Canada, the drone mistakenly shot down a civilian aircraft considered a serious terrorist threat, it would cause a stir.
Or destroy an approaching Russian bomber without reason.
For some time to come, for some purpose, there is still a need for someone on a fighter jet.
