The answer is divided into two parts: information about candidates, and what they think about the problems facing the community.
There are 18 people running for eight council positions: Tell us about your previous experience of being elected and/or the community.
I grew up here, went to school here, got married here, and built a family here.
My wife and I also want our daughter to grow up here.
Why are you running?
What is your motivation?
Being a father inspired me to run for a member of the Sanic Parliament.
I want to make sure that Saanich continues to be a green, dynamic and sustainable community, what are your three big questions for future generations?
Housing is a fundamental human right,
We should all have a safe place to call home.
As our rental vacancy rate is below 1%, it is almost impossible to find rental housing.
Sanic is a beautiful city full of forests, parks and waterways that need to be protected.
I believe that in order to better support the growing elderly population, we need to work together to enable them to continue to participate in the communities they help create.
What vision have you had for your community for 25 years?
I imagine a welcoming, dynamic and safe Saanich;
Diverse population with strong community awareness.
A city with active community members whose voices are heard and considered in the planning process.
What I envision is a city that offers a variety of housing, education and employment opportunities.
A Saanich who does not put today's financial costs on generations to come tomorrow.
What "good idea" Do you have for your community "?
Community participation.
One thing Saanich should adopt from the city of Victoria is to have each member as a community liaison.
When you have a problem, you can bring it to the attention of your community liaison.
They can be your first point of contact at the municipal hall of saniqi by helping you connect with the right staff, department or service.
Of course, you can contact any member you like as they have been elected to represent all the members of the Sanic.

Inspired by Vic Deman's "City of nature", I added my own millennial torch!

What "good idea" Do you have for your community "?

Municipal authorities have a charter-
Bring power in line with the Liquor Control and Licensing Act, allowing residents to open beer or wine in public placesg.

No local government has ever accepted this option, and the new legislation almost removes this capability, but the staff of the Vancouver Park Council have saved it. Slainte!

Tell us about your previous election and/or community experience.
I used to serve as chairman, mayor and councillor of the Greater Victoria school board in Oak Bay and MLA Saanich South, why are you running?
What is your motivation?
I am motivated because the issues that are important to sanić are important to me and I feel that I have a context that will help the council deal with them.
For the benefit of the community as a whole, I respect the nature of group decision-making and I am passionate about integrating economic, environmental and social issues into balanced decision-making.
What are your first three questions?
Financial accountability to taxpayers environmental sustainability housing affordability for 25 years what is your vision for your community?
After 25 years, Saanich will be a complete community centered on residential areas and the Douglas corridor.
The regional transport hub will be located in the area connecting Saanich and the rest of the region.
Various Saanich residential areas will be strengthened, and green spaces, including parks and trails, will be more protected as density increases.
As the population will continue to age and hope to continue to live in a community, accessibility issues will be addressed.
Each community will have a gathering space for residents of all ages to meet and socialize.
What "good idea" Do you have for your community "?
I would like to see a large hotel in Saanich that maximizes many of the untapped tourism-related potential.
With its natural environment, parks, trails, and natural centers, Saanich will increasingly seek these facilities for visitors looking for a real natural experience.

Why are you running?
What is your motivation?
I care about Sanichi and the region, and I want to make sure that they keep moving forward with their eyes on the future, strengthen and protect our natural environment and create quality of life for all residents.
What are your first three questions?
Housing continued to diversify with the goal of making it easier to access it. Continuing efforts to establish a transportation committee, through sustainable innovation, multi-users not only protect our natural environment, reduce operating costs, but also develop an economic development strategy focusing on tourism, sports tours are included and will be our local corporate villages and corridors for 25 years, what vision do you have for your community?
What "good idea" Do you have for your community "?
Develop a youth guidance program.
Some students are looking for me to guide politicians at the local level.
One day they wanted to run for the local office.
Tell us about your previous election and/or community experience.
I have served on the board of directors of the Greater Victoria chamber of commerce, travel Victoria and Victoria Esquimalt Harbour Association.
I am confident that business will flourish where partnerships are encouraged.
I believe that if I ask the community to be a volunteer, I should first lead by example and be myself.
To this end, I am a volunteer at the Saanich police station and also a community producer/reporter for Shaw TV.
Recently, I completed the third ride of 100 Dutch airlines to conquer cancer every day.
In the 2015 match, I put my chin on the boxing line and fought for the cause, it was a charity boxing match and I unanimously decided to win.
Now I want to fight for the inhabitants of Sanic.

What is your motivation?
I am passionate about contributing to the community in which I live, work and have fun, and firmly believe that nurturing relationships will strengthen our community.
My various careers in the private and public sectors have helped me to have a clear understanding of Saanich's complex business community.
I provide a community perspective and will work closely with you to find solutions to the problems we face in Saanich.

What vision have you had for your community for 25 years?
After 25 years, I want people to say that Sanic is the best place for families, students and retirees to live on Island.
I would like to see more initiatives come to fruition to make Saanich healthier and more affordable for homeowners, rent r and businesses.
I hope to be proud to say that my time in the Council has contributed to meaningful changes in sanić.
What "good idea" Do you have for your community "?
Working with First Nations, my big idea provides a vision for the future and a Saanich Health Center-
Similar to the Songhees Health Center--
Health programs including primary health care clinics, prenatal and postpartum care, vaccination clinics, injury prevention training, chronic disease prevention and management, oral health, and convenient fitness and entertainment programs are provided.
In my opinion, it is located in the center of Sanic.

I will be a strong, reliable and independent for sustainability, affordability, safety, livable roads, communities, protection of remaining green/farmland, cost-effective public services and good government

Affordable housing, safe residential communities and sustainable land use.
What vision have you had for your community for 25 years?
A method of public policy and public action that strives to balance the carrying capacity and available resources of our only planet.
What "good idea" Do you have for your community "?
Create a voluntary incentive program I. e.
"Saanich Heritage Management Program", which encourages homeowners to voluntarily leave their property in a natural state through tax incentives and public recognition.
Tell us about your previous election and/or community experience.
I am a young leader in our community.
In addition to studying and sports, my passion in college is to engage young people in politics.
I work alone with the organization to increase turnout, to make young people aware of the politics that are important to them, and to connect youth with people and organizations, there they can use their enthusiasm to change the status quo and contribute to a better world.
Over the past 5 years, I have served several executives and have a collaborative driven track record.

I love Saanich, I grew up here and went to school here, I am excited about Saanich's future and want to be a part of it.
My generation can't afford another election.

Fast traffic and multiple modes.
I will try to make Sanichi a leader in transit transport in Canada.

Before becoming a member last fall, I was the treasurer of the Camosun Community Association, a director of Yes, a director of grumpy taxpayers.
During my work, I also participated in various government advisory committees of the provinces and federal governments.
Why are you running?
What is your motivation?
My previous experience, especially at BC pension, is to find ways to successfully create significant organizational efficiencies.
This inspired me to serve as member of Saanich.
We need to create a responsive, cost-effective, modern organization that serves the pension board and its members.
This successful experience will help provide strategic guidance when Saanich makes the necessary explorations.

We need to make it more affordable for homeowners, renters and businesses.
I will try to align taxation with inflation by improving organizational efficiency. Housing.

As the largest city on Vancouver Island, Saanich was hampered by a lack of cooperation at council meetings.
Citing the Saanich governance review in 2017, some members served many terms in the Council.
In fact, some people are professional politicians.

What is your motivation?
I am sure I can continue my experience of traveling in Canada and the US as an IBEW electrician.
I have witnessed different cities struggling with many of the same problems that Saanich is facing now.
If there is one thing in common, it is that uncontrolled growth is neither dangerous nor healthy.
Saanich is my home now and I want to give it to my 13 year old daughter Saanich as much as I can.

This must be addressed with a viable, sustainable, long-term solution that is fair to taxpayers and those in need.

What is your motivation?
I would like to provide a voice for young families, professionals, rent r, fixed income families and future generations to make sure they have a future in Sanic.
Due to our high cost of living and low housing supply, the future of these groups and our local economy is very uncertain.
What are your first three questions?

For 25 years, my vision includes having more "complete" communities in Sanic, with grocery stores, coffee shops and workplaces, and interacting with others.
We have a wide range of housing and employment options to support residents of all ages and abilities.
Through smart development, we have managed to retain active agricultural land in rural saniqi, as well as green and natural areas that our city government is proud.
In other words, we are a diverse, resilient, green community!

I have never run for council or any other elected position.
In the community, as an assistant coach, I volunteered to play my children's softball and football teams.
I was also involved in a campaign to raise awareness about Alzheimer's and dementia and the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
Because my mom has developed advanced dementia recently, these reasons are very close to my heart (in her 60’s)
My father died of a heart attack when he was 54.

What is your motivation?
I love Saanich and am passionate about contributing to the community I live in.
I have business in Saanich and have lived here for 11 years.
I firmly believe that my experience in the public and private sectors will help to move Saanich forward.
I am calm-headed and can achieve a common goal with anyone, and I want to help shape Saanich into a community where I can eventually retire, my children can afford to live and support their families.

It seems that we don't know anything about the development of our region until something has been approved and construction has started.
This is not the way to manage the community or municipalities.
We need to be open, transparent and honest.
I would like to involve the community more in planning now and in the future by promoting strategic planning to the public and conducting public consultation on local plans.
I suggest we hold town hall events to get meaningful community input on these key projects.

I am currently the chairman of the network of Saanich community associations (SCAN)
This is a network of monthly meetings to collaborate on issues of concern to the community associations and lessons learned in the Sanic region.
I also served as vice president of the Quadra Cedar Hill Community Association and also co-

Over the past two years, the market has successfully provided Saanich with family friendly community events in Braefoot Park in July and August.

What is your motivation?
I am running for the Sanic Council to address the concerns of residents who may not have a voice with a true, balanced voice --
Young families who can't afford to buy their own house in Sanic;
Recipients of fixed income pensions are unable to keep up with the increase in cost of living;
Enterprises seeking cost and time efficiency to create sustainable growth;
And residents who seek to protect our natural environment while providing the facilities needed to build a healthy community.
What are your first three questions?
Affordable, efficient municipal and healthy environment.
I would like to see a council working together to support homeowners, house builders and environmental protection.
We need to provide affordable and accessible resources for young families, students and those who wish to retire to make them feel comfortable calling Saanich home.
What vision have you had for your community for 25 years?
25 years is too far away.
We now need to start building a city that increases density in a balanced way while protecting the natural environment and improving the social environment.
I imagine a city that leads by example through innovation and in many ways.

What "good idea" Do you have for your community "?
If I choose, I will create a healthy and productive Council that will be able to work together to find common ground on serious issues.

I have been a community organizer for 15 years and am currently a board member of the Greater Victoria local production network to help people build their own small Free Library.
I am the main organizer of the BC High School simulation test competition and a regular visitor to cil 107.
Radio station FM, French community radio, Victoria.
I have a PhD in political and international studies and have conducted research for Vancouver Island and various organizations around the world.
Why are you running?
What is your motivation?
Through my work in place name production, I worked with the street team in Victoria and was pleased to learn that they hired an employee who was focused on community building.
However, there is no similar correspondence in Saanich, which I would like to correct.
My second motivation is the safety of our streets.
Two years ago, my partner and I drove for free, and when you cycle around a lot, you realize that slower speed limits and smart designs are needed to improve safety.
What are your first three questions?

Our core community is walkable, cross-generational, mixed
Affordable housing and vibrant public places.
The area has beautiful natural areas that inspire health and happiness.
The streets of Saanich are safe and packed with people who use all kinds of transportation.
What "good idea" Do you have for your community "?
Encouraging cross-generation communities is critical to eliminating social isolation and loneliness.
This can take a variety of forms, including inter-generation housing and daycare projects in retirement communities.
A dedicated staff role can help spread the connections between generations across the region.

What is your motivation?
I believe in serving my community.
Saanich is a great place to live and I believe this is because our previous people helped us to do it.
Now is the time for us to make sure that Saanich continues to be a wonderful community.
I believe that Saanich needs an experienced, rational and thoughtful member of parliament, and I can help shape a positive future for our community by making thoughtful and informed decisions.

Housing: we have to encrypt in the right place and allow more housing to be built in the right place in Saanich so that people can afford to live here.
We must expand our business tax base.

Rural/Urban issues: Saanich has an amazing difference in defining rural/urban areas in our region.
We must support our cities to curb borders and support agricultural land reserves.
What vision have you had for your community for 25 years?
Saanich has a healthy population who is fully involved in their community and our youth and seniors can afford to live here.
We are an inclusive, multicultural community in which our crime rate continues to decline and we have high quality based on a diverse economy, sustainable principles and respect for the environment
Every year, we have more and more food here.
It is said that Sanic is the most suitable place to live in the world.
What "good idea" Do you have for your community "?
A police force is needed in the area.
Tell us about your previous election and/or community experience.
I have served on various saniqi committees, including 10 years at the snow Pine Mountain golf committee, and the conditions of the CommitteesI sanitchi chicken heart and recreational activities also served as the regional coordinator for the month of the Quadra Cypress Mountain Blockwatch and the maximum watch sanitchi 64 pieces and more than 13 million residents.
I also worked as an executive for the Quadra snow Pine Mountain Community Association for 6 years.
I am the former vice president of the Victoria University Alumni Association.
I served as chairman of the first Canadian Toastmasters and was awarded the title of chairman and head of the Toastmasters.
I also worked as a volunteer assistant public relations manager for Harbour Festival and airport grounds at 1994 Commonwealth Games.
I also worked as a public relations volunteer at the Victoria Volunteer Bureau and the Victoria Special Olympics.
Why are you running?
What is your motivation?
Recently retired after working for the BC Ferry for 32 years, I believe there will be a reward in places of work, life and entertainment.
I think we can do better and we have to do better.
What are your first three questions? 1.
Affordable housing means density centered around major transport density corridors such as Sherborne and Quadra Street.
But it also means innovative hybrid housing models, including density, such as increased use of duplex, triple-storey homes and townhouses, while maintaining the character of the block.
I think the use of legitimate secondary suites is increasing and consider laneway housing as an option for students and labor housing to consider and possibly consider outside the city's containment borders. 2.
Transportation requires the implementation of a regional transport authority similar to Translink, Vancouver.
It is necessary to improve the frequency and rules of traffic, especially to reduce the use of cars and contribute to the green environment.
Students should be served as well as retirees. 3.
Community security.
I will devote more resources to the expanded blocking observation programme and align it with the increased use of emergency preparedness registration.
Both measures will be cost-effective and build community and security awareness in sanić.
Safety also includes improving our road infrastructure to make it easier to walk and move around by implementing a sound and safe crosswalk strategy.
What vision have you had for your community for 25 years?
My vision for Saanich is dynamic.
I saw the cornerstone of the central business district.
It is the Douglas corridor connecting residential areas, Gateway Village and Nigel Valley plan.
I see an increase in rental housing needed in the city and an increase in supportive housing.
What is particularly needed is the housing of students at the University and the Camosun College.
I have seen a new and revitalized biodiversity policy, along with a good alternative to EDPA that balances the development zone with enough green space to make Saanich a livable area.
I think there is a higher level of accountability and transparency in the governance structure of the Sanic region.
What "good idea" Do you have for your community "?
My idea is to design some measures to attract more green industries, such as a film studio on the lower island, possibly at the Mayfair mall on tolimi Avenue.
In addition to our government or medical-centric work base, we also need high-paying jobs.
Every year, we produce thousands of college and university graduates, but they have to leave Saanich to get meaningful jobs.
To meet the needs of these graduates, we need to diversify the economy.
Tell us about your previous election and/or community experience.
I am currently the director of the Gordon Hyde Residents Association and a member of the local advocacy group Fix Ash Road.

I worked with human habitat on a residential project.
I also volunteer at the local Hindu temples and cross-cultural associations.
My best memories are volunteering during the summer folk festival in downtown Victoria.
Why are you running?
What is your motivation?
As a 40-year-old resident of Saanich, I feel that I have an obligation to use the skills I have gained in my nearly 20 years of public service career to help build a more livable community.

I am ready to advocate better and more affordable services for our residents by strengthening economic development.
What are your first three questions?
The three issues that I am most concerned about are increasing responsible economic development to help Sanic bear the costs and the continued increase in debt repayment, rather than increasing taxes, more investment in art and entertainment creates a more livable city for all residents (

What is your motivation?
I love Saanich, the community I grew up in.
I want to protect our beautiful neighborhoods and natural environment for my lifetime and future generations.
If elected, I will also focus on bringing together the Council to create real affordable housing, improve transport options and respect your taxes.
I will take a visionary approach that works now and in the long termterm future.
On October 20, I request your vote so that I can start to address the issues facing our community.
What are your first three questions?
As a young man, I know that I may raise my children here one day.
I want to make sure that house prices and tax rates are under control so that I can form a family here.
I would also like to improve public transport and other transport options to allow residents to bypass the Greater Victoria area efficiently and conveniently.
In addition, we must protect our parks and natural environment for present and future generations.
What vision have you had for your community for 25 years?
In the years to come, we have to make sure that our beautiful neighborhoods and natural areas are protected.
We also need to address the affordability of housing and taxes so that people can continue to live in communities they like.
We are very fortunate to call this incredible place in the world home, and we need to work together and lead to address these enormous challenges.
What "good idea" Do you have for your community "?
I believe we need to increase density, transportation and economic vitality in key areas such as residential areas.
We have the potential to turn this part of our community into the center of Saanich
A place where people shop from local businesses, look for an affordable place to live and connect to other areas of the area through high-quality public transport.
Taking this opportunity can also help us get new sources of income and help control the tax rate.

The Civic Assembly provides a valuable process for researching and developing specific proposals for the issues being explored.
It will bring people and communities together through citizen-led processes.
I believe that in order to make an informed decision, it is essential to listen to the residents and weigh their feedback on the political stage.
Natalie Chambers Sanichi and Victoria have now developed a voting question asking if residents will spend up to $250 on citizens
I will respect the will of the voters.
The Saanich staff prepared an excellent report on the steps to begin reconciliation, which included improving relations with First Nations in neighbouring countries, and we all have a responsibility to respect the United Nations declaration on indigenous peoples.
This is the key to any new governance direction.
The Zac de Vries merger should be decided by the voters and I support the process and will respect the informed decision of the voters.
My commitment to you is to provide the best public service possible to make the lives of ordinary residents affordable;
Even if this is the case with our borders, it will not change.
I personally agree with the merger.
The question before us, however, is whether we should have the assembly of citizens examine this issue.
I strongly support this.
It is time for the public, not politicians, to study the issue and make any suggestions.
I will accept these suggestions without conditions.
This issue has been discussed for decades in Grand Victoria and has not been resolved.
It is time for politicians to step down and let the people decide whether they want the civic assembly to study the issue.
Politicians should abide by the choices of the people.
Merge is not supported by me.
I think Saanich will make his own voice when deciding his own development path.
Any so-called savings can be achieved outside of the merger.
Finally, I do not want to be consistent with the Council of any Sir John McDonald statue that is closed-door.
For me, the most important thing for Rebecca Mersereau is to put the interests of the Saanich residents first.

Regardless of the outcome of the referendum, we must continue to seek opportunities to coordinate regional services (ie.

I believe that the input to this issue must be discussed extensively before such a significant decision is made.
Before making any rash decisions on this issue, the public needs to understand how they feel.
Personally, I do not think there is an overwhelming interest in the integration of municipalities.

This, I think, will lead to negligible cost savings and reduce the connection between people and public representation.
Rishi Sharma I support the search for mergers to help control the increased costs and improve efficiency.
I think both Victoria and Sanichi have work to do to solve their own problems. e.
: Economic development, affordable housing, improved arts and entertainment facilities, and then an effort to integrate Ned Taylor. I support the integration of the Greater Victoria area, especially when we have about 2,000 people in the Highlands etc.
We need a fair, provincial-funded study that looks at all 13 cities and decides if we should merge and how we should merge if we should.

As chairman of the first Victoria Regional Transit Commission, in cooperation with all members of the Commission, a transit future plan is being implemented to build priority lanes for buses and increase services throughout the region, and put in the gas tax to provide more and better services.
Judy brownnov will continue to lobby the provincial government to set up a transportation committee.
At Sanic, work hard to complete the short-term plan for Shelborne and work on a positive short-term project for transport.
Catherine Burton, we should continue our existing work to improve, strengthen and expand transit services.

Karen Harper transport is a regional issue and we need a regional transit authority with the ability to guide the necessary changes.
Without this power, we would find ourselves in the same position as us on many of the CRD's issues where lack of consistency often limits effective change.
The agency shall supervise all forms of transportation including buses, cars and cyclists.
As a long-term cyclist, the solution needs to allow safe cycling without adding other forms of traffic problems.
Ian Jessop Saanich is unable to solve the shipping problem separately.
This must be done at the regional level and the regional transport authority looks at the whole area from the perspective of vehicles, buses and cyclists.
With many people crossing multiple cities at any given time, it makes sense to solve this problem at the regional level only if we want real change.
Vernon Lord, who advances public transport, must be pushed to the front of every parliamentary agenda in the capital region.
All approaches/ideas must be viewed with a common truth and continue to rely on cars, as the main means of transport in the capital region are unsustainable.
A regional transport plan is urgently needed.
The current traffic situation is deteriorating rapidly, which is not good for the health, economy, environment and quality of life in our region.
We need to lobby the provincial government and local MLAs for provincial support to help us build the right governance model and capital flow in the long term
Public transport solutions in the area. In the short-
In the long run, we need better service from BC Transit so that young people and people with fixed income can continue to live here and balance the budget by not having their own vehicles.
The transportation of Corey Montgomery is extremely important to the development of Sanic and we need to ensure that our network is well thought out and meaningful.
I believe there is still room for bike lanes, but we need to make sure we think carefully about where they should go and consult with stakeholders on a regular basis.
We can't make the same mistake as Victoria because Victoria hurts the business and creates chaos.
We also need to consider road safety (
Appropriate speed limit and reasonable intersection).
In order for our streets to be safe for everyone, Saanich should reduce the speed limit to 30 km km/h for all residential streets, increase enforcement efforts and use smart design and traffic calm measures.
I will support our 30-
Active transportation plan.
We also need to speed up the sidewalk installation plan for Saanich and install more crosswalk.
Priority must be given to transportation, including safe and comfortable bus stops.
At least CRD transportation services are required in this area.
It is best to establish a transportation authority like the Vancouver metro area in the CRD.
Another key issue is our transportation in the capital area.
It is necessary to establish a regional traffic authority that strives to achieve a unified approach to speed limits, sidewalks, bicycle lanes and traffic flows.
A better transportation service will enable us to provide smoother transportation options for all modes of transportation.
Rishi Sharma has a powerful public transport system that can reduce congestion on Saanich roads.
Our roads are shared spaces between vehicles, pedestrians and cyclists, and as the proposal for housing density increases, we need to ensure ongoing attention from the engineering department, planning and police to ensure that all

Ned Taylor as a man without a car, I know first hand how hard it is to get around big Victoria.
We need to improve public transportation by increasing bus lines, increasing the frequency of bus schedules and creating more bus lanes.
If elected, I will also try to solve the problem of traffic congestion and improve the connection between sidewalks and bicycle lanes.
To increase our housing affordability, Saanich needs to update our local plans.
This will help to identify appropriate locations and opportunities for increased density development.
With more and more housing units, especially multi-family homes, townhouses and living/working apartments, prices will also be adjusted accordingly.

Tax reform is a solution that will allow the working family, the elderly, the youth and those who have other obstacles to stay here more fairly.
We must increase our affordable housing reserves within urban control.
The biggest problem for Sanic is the affordability of Zach de fridges, in particular the housing affordability.
There is no single panacea for the housing crisis.
We need to complete the housing needs assessment and then update our local plans accordingly.
We should use our local plans to guide the development of our community.
Projects that are in line with Saanich's local plans and long-term vision should move forward faster so that we can raise our housing stock to the level we need.
We need to ensure that new housing developments include affordable housing options.
If a certain proportion of the additional density is specified for affordable housing, this can be achieved by wisely using the allowed increase in density.
We also need to encourage different types of development.
Various types of housing are provided, such as enclosed, townhouses, apartments, etc.

I will promote housing for all.
This means increasing and quickly tracking the supply of local social housing and implementing strong harm reduction programs with funding from governments at all levels.
One symptom of not actively responding to our affordability and housing crisis is the rising levels of homeless and expensive tent cities.
Zac de Vries homelessness has reached an unprecedented level in our community and we have to do better as a society.
Prevention is the best way to stop the family.
More work needs to be done by Saanich to address mental health and addiction issues.
We need bold action now.
