Noise is destroying our health.
Too much exposure is known to improve heart rate and blood pressure, but we are surrounded by constant sound, especially the constant roar of electronic devices at home.
Poppy Szkiler explains: "Historically, if you hear a loud noise, the level of cortical hormone will soar when you are ready to fight or run away, your heart will beat the quiet President mark.
Organizations that certify quiet home products.
"We 've been hearing a lot these days, and our bodies have responded the same way, so we 've been under pressure.
For this reason, manufacturers are beginning to design products that are quieter and sound less offensive, and consumers are eagerly investing.
Here, Alice Smellie tested some new quiet products with the help of the Decibel measurement app on her phone, and Poppy gave her conclusion.

TEST: I tested this against my beloved old Henry vacuum and when I kept the attachment around 7 feet from my ear it produced thunderous 82 decibels which I usually stand
By contrast, Miele sounds like a purring cat;
The mute function is just low hum.
At the same distance, it only fires 64 dB.

Dyson measures a stable 81 db, but a relaxing buzz means you can use it as a white noise and fall asleep.
It's perfect for families who need to be able to hear what's going on around them, says POPPY.
It shows the importance of tone and decibel level.

Test: when measuring a metre from my head, the noise peak is around 55dB.
I have to say that I have never been annoyed by the kettle, so it seems like a quiet step too far away.
A soft sound, 55 dB is very unobtrusive, says POPPY.
We have tested hundreds of kettles and few are quiet due to the need to boil quickly in a short period of time.

This one does not have a quiet mark, but still press the button and it will make a low and continuous seductive 52 db hissing sound.
I can hear everything when I turn on the TV.
A heavy task has become less terrible.
Some irons make an explosion noise while heating, and then drag the water from the water tank to the iron, says POPPY.
The calm sound helps you relax and the constant noise disturbance is irritating.

You can also choose from 14 soothing wake-ups-up sounds.
Test: most mornings, I was shocked to breathe when my alarm clock screamed at 80 dB as I entered consciousness.
I chose the black bird as the alarm clock of my choice.
To my disappointment, I woke up earlier than the clock and just saw the light bulb sending a deep Sunrise red.
When the blackbird started their tweet, I was already pumped by the tired anger and dropped it.
I know people like this, but it's not mine.
The wake-up sound is soft and natural, but it is still an important job for traditional alarm clocks, says POPPY.

At the distance of the mouth to the ear, it makes more than 70 dB of jingle.
In contrast, this is a consistent 55dB hum at the same distance.
