CHICAGO-Philips Electronics, Europe's largest consumer electronics maker, sued Gillette.

Philips filed a lawsuit in the United States and Germany to try to prevent Gillette from selling toothbrushes and unspecified money losses.
"We believe Gillette illegally used our technology in their new sonic toothbrush," a Philips spokesman said . ".
The head of the sonic toothbrush can move back and forth quickly, instead of circular motion, making a unique sound.

Patent infringement charges were dismissed.
"We believe in our spoken language.
"The product does not infringe any Philips technology patents," said Michele Szynal, a spokesman for B. Gillette . ".
