OPENING THE SONICARE ELITE TOOTHBRUSH - best electric toothbrush to buy
Question: We bought a Phillips Sonicare Elite electric toothbrush a few years ago.
It stopped working recently and the problem seems to be that the battery has expired.
The new Sonicare sells for about $100.
A $5 battery. 00 it was a no-
It's smarter to try and fix it.
I looked it over and found there was no easy way to get into it.
I went to YOUTUBE.
Found a few videos to deal with my problem.
A video suggests wrapping the collar with tape to prevent breaking the collar when tightening it to the handle.
I did it as instructed, but it was impossible to get the work out of the box.
After years of use, it seems that water and toothpaste have penetrated between two pieces and bonded them together.
I know the "0" ring is the only thing that can catch it, but I can't pull/pry/force/or make enough sound to take it apart.
Solution: since the problem is that I don't pull enough force, I was wondering if I could make a wood saddle that fits the top, clamp the building blocks with the vise, and pull with both hands.
It seems to be feasible for me.
This is about making and using building blocks.
I found a piece of 2 "x 2" x8 * long piece, the same as I thought.
I cut it in half.
2 "X 4" blocks.
I measured the outer diameter of the collar above and found it to be 1. 398".
I found that one of my hole saws is 1. 3/8" (or 1. 375").
Perfect size.
Since I 've wrapped the tape around it, I thought I could remove the tape if needed.
I put two pieces on the milling machine vise, lined up the hole saw and drilled holes on the line that separated the two pieces.
Almost self-explanatory. . . . . . . .
Lift the saw and dispose of the saw.
Slow down, don't force it.
When the boot bit goes through the bottom, flip the block and finish.
Make sure the pilot drill bit or saw does not hit the bed of the vise.
By clamping the collar in the block, place the block in the vise and pull it with both hands, it is separated.
From a crazy idea to success.
The next item is to replace the battery but I need to buy one from eBay.
I hope someone thinks it's helpful.
I can't get in without a block.
While working on this, I found a video that left me with the idea of installing a new battery in an old Sonicare brush.
New brushes like our old brushes now cost more than $100 on eBay, but they also make a non-
4 x aaa battery charging mode.
It should use the same motor and technology.
I bought a list of two new brushes for $14.
99 here: But you can find a list of 1 X for $9.
99 w/Free S/HI received them and we are using them. They work very well.
I use rechargeable lithium.
Almost everything has an ion battery and will be used in these brushes.
The standard battery that comes with the brush should last for a month or more and be easily replaced.
My only minor issue is to install the battery correctly, but this has been fixed when I check the battery in strong light so I can see (+)& (-)markings.
It's really crazy to buy a new brush for $100, or when you can get a new one for less than $10, try welding in the battery. 00.
