Authorities say detectives from New York City police were charged yesterday with taking credit cards from people he arrested and using them to buy electric toothbrushes and telephone response systems.
The Queens prosecutor's office says the 38-year-old detective Edgardo Rodriguez faces charges of major theft and official misconduct.
Queens Herzog said that Detective Queens Rodriguez, a member of the detective squad at Queens 106 branch, took his credit card in July 23 and bought $370 worth of goods with his credit card shortly afterwards, spokeswoman for the district attorney's office
She said that when he tried to use the card again, he was rejected and the card was confiscated.
