lazy line dry - small appliance manufacturers
The clothes dryer is one of the largest energy pigs in a typical family. Line-
Drying clothes can reduce energy consumption to zero, but who has time?
Here's how you line up.
Dry clothes without extra work.
The key is to deal with each project as little as possible.
When the clothes are wet, you can hang them on the plastic hanger once.
Once the dress is dry, all you have to do is grab that batch and move it into the closet without any folding, hanging, or finishing that all needs to be done when you take things out of the dryer
Clothes hangers make it easier to dry socks and underwear.
People talk about restoring lost line art
Dry like our grandparents.
However, after experiencing modern convenience, it is difficult to go back.
My goal is to make the line dry almost as simple as using a dryer-
It's low energy for me and the power plant.
In addition to energy saving, line drying has many other advantages.
For busy people, it actually works better than the dryer, because you don't have to worry about being nearby when the dryer is done to avoid the clothes wrinkle.
Clothes can be worn longer because they don't overheat-
This is especially helpful in maintaining flexibility.
Instead of using a detergent that uses a chemical smell to try to mimic a fresh smell (Or missing)of line-
Dry clothes, you can have real goods!
For more information on the advantages of dry lines, please check the item laundry list
Committed to promoting the profit of simple methods of energy conservation-
Dry line.
In this note, I will describe the strategies and equipment for hanging different kinds of clothes with a minimum amount of work to discuss setting the clothesline (
Select location, etc. )
, Finally describes the option to minimize the energy use of the dryer if you use the dryer.
Appendix explains the small effect of indoor drying on heating or air
Regulate energy use.
* For more information on electrical energy, please see this summary;
The energy consumption of the dryer is usually 900 to 1000 degrees per year.
This photo shows the TED energy monitor when my dryer is on and almost everything else in the house is off.
5 KW is more important than anything in my house, unless I turn on all the burners of the stove at once.
It is my goal to avoid using high power like this.
Dry shirts, trousers, skirts and skirts using plastic hangers.
Take the clothes out of the washing machine and hang them on the hanger.
Hang the Velcro online, on a rod, or on a hook.
Ignore them for about a day and then check the thickest cotton.
If they do it, they do it.
You can then lift the whole batch from the production line and bring it to your closet without having to deal with it separately.
If you have a specific organization system in your closet, it may be helpful to classify clothes according to this system when you hang them, so that when they enter the closet, they have already been classified.
You can put the clothes in the basket, hang them there, put them on the hangers there, or when you take them out of the washing machine, you can put them on the hangers, then take the whole batch of goods to the hanging point.
I like the latter because I like to spend a few minutes at the hanging point near the apple tree in the backyard, not in the dark basement near the washing machine.
Let's compare the work involved with the work involved in using the dryer.
With the dryer, you can move the wet clothes obey the washing machine to the dryer, and then, when the dryer is finished, you can fold or hang them.
This is a "batch" step and a separate one.
The workload of plastic hangers is the same, but the order is the opposite-
You handle them separately, hang them up, and then transfer a batch to the closet.
The road to go is a plastic hanger.
The wire hanger will rust and stain the clothes. Vinyl-
Coated wire hangers can work, but they are usually not strong enough to hold the shape with a heavy damp shirt, and vinyl is not a very green material either.
Wood is also a good choice.
Reviewers here suggest that good wood hangers help to avoid shoulder injuries on shirts and are often available on freecycle.
If you have unfinished wooden hangers, you can use this non-toxic waterproof finish. Hollow, large-
The discount store offers plastic hangers in diameter.
For pants and skirts, the clamping hanger with metal mechanism and plastic arm works very well and is easy to buy.
If you are concerned about oil used on hangers to make plastic, consider: a dryer-
The load can use about 2 KW of the power.
If electricity is generated by a power plant that burns oil, then it needs about a pound of oil. (
In fact, coal is the main fuel used in the United States to generate electricity, but it's even worse, environmental protection. )
That pound of oil can make a lot of plastic hangers, which can be used for a lifetime of clothing, not just clothing.
If you have trouble blowing something offline, you can fix the hanger online with clothes.
But since it's extra work every time, the better option is to add a hook to the hanger or use a commercial product called Tibbe line.
The two clothes also maintain a uniform interval.
Each sock or pair of underwear has to be fitted with a dress, which takes a long time.
Instead, place a clothes rack inside or outside a clean area and dump all the clothes on it.
It will be in a place where a large piece will not dry soon.
So you need to do a little bit of work and then spread it out to hang, but that doesn't have to deal with each piece.
Once it's dry, you can sort it out as you collect it from the shelf.
Or, if you really want to be lazy, you can put the clothes rack in the bedroom and take clean clothes from the clothes rack as needed.
Then, when you make the next pile of socks and underwear, you just need to put things aside and at this point you have used most of the above.
There are many clothes hangers to choose from.
These and these wooden racks are made in New England with New England Wood. -
No rainforest.
The metal rack has a better choice than the one I listed;
For example, this basic model, this high
Stainless steel rack, this space
High and narrow.
The Clothesline store collects more and more different types of indoor and outdoor clothes hangers and clothesline.
But what I recommend most is the Project Laundry List store because they have a lot of such options and the benefits support a great cause.
Most of the wood is not finished. Consider de-
Non-wax shellac as waterprooftoxic finish.
Towels, especially sheets, are big enough, not so much in a pile of clothes, so it's not a lot of work to hang them all over the Internet.
You can hang them on clothes or hang them on a rope.
That's simple. A high-
Really cool technical approach (
Not really necessary though)
PAD line. O-
When you move the line around the pulley, automatically connect the clip system of the clothes clip.
Among other sources, it is available in the United States from clothesline stores.
The classic location of the clothesline is the sunny spot in the backyard.
But consider the porch too: the clothes won't dry so fast, but you don't have to worry about whether it will rain or not.
You can hang your clothes on the porch until they are dry and don't worry about the rain.
In fact, it is an advantage to keep them away from the sun, because the sun will eventually fade the color of some clothes. (
You can also hang them in if you're worried --out. )
If you do not have a porch or other protected outdoor space, you may want an indoor dry place, especially in the winter (see step 6).
Great living space without use-
Rooms, for example.
The curtain rod can easily hang the clothes on the hanger, although it needs to be a shower that is not used frequently.
Basement space tends to be cool and humid, so this is not a good option unless there is a warm area near the heater.
Some people make pulleys.
Commercial pulleys based on system or use-
Based on one system or another, clothes can be lifted up once they are hung.
You can buy a simple rope and tie it between two trees or other objects (
House, fence. . . )
, Or you can buy one of many commercial clothesline products: Retractable lines, multiple retractable lines, dry "trees", etc.
Again, my biggest recommendation for a source is the Project Laundry List store because they have a good choice and you can support a great organization by buying there.
You can even dry your clothes at minus zero.
If the air is dry, the ice will "sublimate" directly from the solid state to water vapor, "Freeze and dry" clothes.
They freeze when you hang them for the first time;
When they get soft, you know all the ice is coming out.
However, it may take a while, most houses are very dry inside in winter, so the clothes are very dry inside very quickly.
This means that drying is the best option for most people as it is simple, fast and helps keep the humidity in the house at a comfortable level.
This does add a little bit to the energy needed to heat the house, but it's much less than the energy needed to run the dryer, so the energy is still a good ideawise.
For more details on this effect, see the appendix.
If you do use the dryer, there are a few things you can do to reduce the energy usage of the dryer. -Don't over-dry clothes.
Drying them dry will waste energy and damage clothes.
Many new dryers have moisture sensors.
Whether you have a sensor like this or not, try setting up to find the minimum setting that will still be able to dry your clothes fully. -
If you buy a new washing machine, buy a high
Rotate the cycle quickly to get more water from the clothes.
If you don't want to get a new washing machine soon, you can add this feature with a standalone high-speed spinner.
Before you put the clothes in the dryer, it takes most of the water out of the clothes and consumes a lot less energy. -
Some clothes work much faster than others.
If you need to wear some clothes in the dryer to attend tomorrow's meeting, please continue to put the light shirt and some other fast food in the dryer
Dry things, save the cotton canvas pants and dry them. -
The dryer is not space or too full.
Running without full load is a waste, but if running at full load, the air cannot be cycled and dried effectively or evenly. -
If you take into account the energy loss of burning gas power generation in the power plant, the gas power dryer is generally much more efficient than the electric dryer.
Consider upgrading to a gas dryer if you have a natural gas supply at home but have a hairdryer (
If you use it often).
You can also install a propane tank and a propane-
Even if you don't have natural gas, this is the case with an electric dryer. -
People can get heat in Europe.
The pump dryer effectively uses a dehumidifier instead of a simple electric heater to remove moisture from the clothes, thus greatly reducing the use of energy.
Electrical manufacturers say Americans won't buy them because they are a little slower and we are too impatient.
You can buy one if you are in Europe;
If you are in the US, you can call the appliance manufacturer and tell them that you want one, even if it is slow.
In hot and dry conditions, hanging clothes inside helps to cool the space by evaporation and cooling, whether you have air conditioning or not, it will be beneficial.
In hot and humid conditions, evaporation and cooling will still occur, but the increased humidity may make the air a little uncomfortable as a whole, so it is better to hang the clothes outside.
However, the two effects are partially canceled, so if it is most convenient, it is OK to hang the clothes inside.
In winter, many houses are too dry inside, and additional humidifying may help.
The heating system needs to overcome the small evaporation cooling effect, however, unless you have electric heating, this is more efficient and better than running an electric humidifier, which is before considering saving energy by avoiding the use of a dryer.
If your house is very dry in the winter, it may indicate a leak of air in the building envelope or pipe.
If you seal it well enough, the humidity will be higher than you think, maybe it's time to consider installing a heating device
Restore the ventilator.
This will allow the introduction of fresh, dry air and tired, damp air without losing heat.
All in all, if the interior is dry, both in winter and in summer, the dry clothes in the interior are conducive to the indoor climate.
If the inside is wet, it's better to dry the clothes outside, but the queue is still much better --
Put them inside to dry instead of using a dryer.
