Is this what real beauty looks like? - what\'s the best electric toothbrush to buy
Photographer Mihaela Noroc said: "Go google pictures now and search for 'beauty '.
"I did what she told me.
Millions of results have returned.
"What did you see? " she asks.
"Very Sexy picture, right? " Yes.
Many women in the photo, wearing high heels and exposed clothes, are best suited for the same body model --
Young, slim, blonde, perfect skin.
"So beauty has always been like this," Mihaela said . ".
"It's unfortunate to objectify women and treat them in a very sexy way.
"This is not the case with women.
We have our stories, our struggles, our power, but we just need to be represented because young women, they only see such images every day, so, they need to have more confidence that they can look like they are and be considered beautiful.
"But," she added, "Google is us because we are all influencing the images.
Mihaela has just released her first photography book, the beauty Atlas, with 500 portraits of her own women.
However, the Romanian photographer's definition of beauty does not seem to be defined.
Women have different ages, occupations and backgrounds.
"People are interested in my photos because they paint the people around us, the ordinary people on the street," Mihaela explained . ".
"Usually, when we talk about beauty and women, we have this very high, impossible way to portray them.
"So my photos are very natural and simple.
The strange thing is, this is a surprise.
Because we are not usually seen.
"Each of the 500 portraits of the book has a title with information on where to shoot and, in many cases, the subject.
Gently, the location is different.
It includes Nepal, Tibet, Ethiopia, Italy, North Korea, Germany, Mexico, India, Afghanistan, the United Kingdom, the United States and the Amazon rainforest.
However, it turns out that some places are more problematic than others.
"I approached the woman on the street that I wanted to shoot.
Let me explain what my project is about.
"Sometimes I get affirmation as an answer and sometimes I get no, it really depends on the country I am in," she explains . ".
"When you go to a more conservative society, a woman will be under a lot of pressure from society in some way, her day --to-
Others carefully observe the life of the day.
"So she won't accept being photographed easily, maybe she needs permission from the male family.
"Elsewhere in the world, they are very careful because there may be problems with their security, such as in Colombia.
Because they have so many years of Pablo Escobar and mafia.
So they say 'OK, so you're going to take my picture, but I might be kidnapped after that because you're part of the Mafia, you're not the one you said.
She added: "It would be much easier if someone only started the project with men, as they did not have to ask for the consent of their wife, sisters or mothers.
Mihaela says she occasionally passes photos through Photoshop, but not because of what you might think.
"When you take a picture, it's usually original, which means it's very blank, like a painting, and you don't have the color in reality.
"So I tried to make it as vibrant and colorful as the original place.
But I'm not going to make anyone thinner or anyone thinner because it's painful.
"Because as a woman who has grown up from all kinds of difficulties, I am also in pain, so I want to be a little thinner, in some way, it's also related to the fake images I saw during the dayto-day life.
"It's safe to say that Mihaela's photography books are very different from Kim Kardashian's 2015 selfie books.
"Today, bloggers, celebrities on our planet have set this unattainable false beauty standard, and it's hard for us as women to relate to it," she said . ".
"Kim Kardashian has 100 million fans on her Instagram page and I have 200,000, so imagine the difference --
Amazing.
But slowly, slowly, I think natural, simple and beautiful information will spread all over the world.
"So, what is the best advice Mihaela can give to anyone who is passionate about photography?
Buy a camera of good quality?
Understand the lens and angle? Not exactly.
"Buy good shoes," she said with a smile, "because you will go a lot of ways to explore.
