Is Amazon Good or Bad For Small Businesses? - personal care electronics
Amazon has angered many small businesses.
I'm not even going to get into all the Internet tax business, but the company launched an app earlier this month.
The app, known as price check, allows users to walk into the store, scan the product, find the product at a cheaper price through Amazon, and buy it immediately.
Oh, when Amazon used the app on some items last weekend, it gave users a discount of up to 5%.
While angry in the past and now, Amazon insists it is helpful for small businesses.
Categories within the scope of the price check include: books, textbooks, movies, music, video games, CDs, electronics, homes and gardens, cars, babies, beauty, cameras and photos, mobile phones and services, clothing, computers, groceries, health & personal care, home decor, industry & Science, jewelry, Kindle, kitchen and dining, magazines, musical instruments, office products, courtyard and garden, shoes, software, Sports and Outdoors, videos and watches.
User reviews in the Android Market are very positive.
The average rating is 4. 3 out of 5.
At the time of writing this article, it has 120 5-
Star reviews, 32 4-
Star reviews, 15 3-
Star reviews, 9 2-
Star reviews and 8 1-star reviews.
Here is a sample of what people who have been rated 5 stars have said: brilliant.
A very simple UI.
Allows you to compare quickly so that you can make the best decisions when you are out shopping. Love this. Love Amazon!
What else to say is Amazon. Awesome app. Works great.
A better price will definitely be found.
Here's from 1-star and 2-
Star review: This is no good for users than any barcode scanner.
All it does is turn users into tools for Amazon researchers.
The original Amazon app also did everything including barcode and camera search, wishlist and account management.
Completely redundant.
I hate the limited interface.
I am used to reading reviews and comparing similar products.
This app feels like a small prison.
Unlike other android scanner apps, barcode scanners are too picky.
Overall 2 star rating from me.
Some others indicate errors and crashes.
However, it seems that most people are very satisfied with this. And why not?
Really, from the user's point of view, what is not like?
Especially in this economy.
Consumers want to save as much as possible.
But that doesn't mean small businesses are happy.
Since its launch, businesses have strongly protested.
Republican Senator Olympia Snow recently unveiled the app that benefits small businesses.
Bloomberg Businessweek quoted her as saying: "Amazon's promotion --
Pay consumers to visit small businesseshanded —
Is an attack on the Main Street businesses that employ workers in our community.
Small businesses are competing daily with big retailers such as Amazon, and motivating consumers to spy on local stores is a bridge too far away.
As previously reported, Catherine Luger, vice president of public affairs at the Association of Retail Leaders, said: "Retailers compete on prices 365 days a year, at any time, the competition will not be more intense than in the production process. or-
Holiday shopping season breaks.
However, by continuing to evade the national sales tax, Amazon took advantage
Internet tax loopholes led to 6-
10% price advantage on Main Street.
"Amazon's aggressive promotion of its price-checking app shows how much time they are willing to spend taking advantage of this tax loophole, a clear reminder of why Congress needs to take action to protect retailers on the street.
Inaction is an implicit recognition of Amazon's subsidies, which distort the free market and expose jobs on major streets to risk.
"Major Street retailers are forced to compete for too long in an uneven competitive environment.
Retailers can no longer afford a holiday season and they have to compete in an uneven competitive environment.
Obviously, Amazon doesn't think it should be criticized by all of these strictness.
The New York Times this week shared a statement from Amazon spokeswoman Sally Forth, who said the controversial app was "primarily prepared for customers who compare the prices of major retail chains, amazon's third
Party sellers, including "more than 2 million individuals and businesses of all sizes sold on Amazon," also benefited from the app, she said.
The problematic promotion at this point may be old news, but the app is still fresh and received a lot of attention.
Obviously, users like it according to the comments above.
Combining it with Amazon's brand power, one must assume that this thing will appear on many smartphones and be used by many consumers in many stores.
Just because the promotion is over doesn't mean people won't want to look for cheaper prices on Amazon.
Of course, they could have done that already, but having an app dedicated to this purpose is more convenient than ever.
And Amazon will not launch similar promotions in the future. uture.
