Although ozone is known to be a health risk, manufacturers of indoor "air purifiers" are interested in selling equipment that produces high ozone, saying they will improve air quality, according to the California Aviation Resources Commission.
These manufacturers are snakes.

Manufacturers are called on to keep ozone emissions from air purifiers below 50 per billion.
Today, the board announced that 34 safe indoor air purifiers have been certified.
Some models, such as ion air purifiers, may produce a small amount of ozone, while models using filters do not produce ozone.
But until October 2010, manufacturers can still sell old models.
In order to determine which models are certified as safe models, some manufacturers may label the boxes as compliant with national standards.
Consumers can find a list of certified models on the ARB website.

"Consumers should be aware that distributors will not sell uncertified models until the end of 2010.
Some dealers are still emphasizing the absurd concept of clean air with ozone and the safety of human breathing.
Look for the "arb certified" label on the package and know that certification means there is no harmful amount of ozone. " --
