Marilyn ini asked me that my gums were a little infected.
I brush twice a day, use Listerine, and rinse.
What can I use every day to get healthier gums?
Live well, Dr. expert.
Jennifer Shu pediatrician, Children's Medical Group, thank you for your letter.
It sounds like you're describing inflammation of the gums.
Symptoms may include redness, bleeding and pain in the gums.
The most common cause of gum inflammation is the accumulation of dental plaque caused by brushing teeth and insufficient dental floss.
The American Dental Association recommends brushing teeth twice a day with fluoride toothpaste and once a day with dental floss. Certain ADA-
The accepted mouthwash or toothpaste can also help fight plaque, just as with toothpicks and/or electric toothbrushes.
In addition, it is helpful to eat a healthy, balanced diet and go to see dental professionals on a regular basis for cleaning and checking.
If the plaque stays on the teeth for more than a few days, it will harden into tartar and it will be difficult to remove it by itself.
To keep your teeth and gums healthy, a dentist or a health specialist can help you remove the tartar.
Your dentist may also advise you to brush your teeth and use dental floss after each meal, although cleaning your teeth too drastically can worsen inflammation.
Finally, severe gum inflammation may require oral antibiotic treatment.
Sometimes, other habits or diseases can cause gum inflammation.
These include smoking or chewing tobacco, diabetes, immune system problems, hormonal changes (
Such as from puberty, pregnancy, menopause or oral contraceptives)
Oral infection, impacted teeth, vitamin deficiency (
Such as vitamin C or Nick acid)
Or use some medicine to treat seizures, high blood pressure, and other diseases.
If your gums continue, be sure to discuss your problem with your doctor and dentist to find the best treatment that suits your own situation. Good luck!
