Gedi Lee's attention to his first book is the same as his attention to each album on more albums --than-40-
A year of career in the rock band Rush.
That is to say, the history of the electric bass guitar has hardly been explored.
Rock and Roll Hall of Fame singers and bassist are the definition of details-
His avant-garde rock work, created with longtime band teammate Alex Lifeson and Neil pitter, is a product of their shared passion for the complexity of the mix.
As a writer, Li Shufu is also meticulous.
"After I finished the album, I may be more satisfied than any rushed album," Lee said in an interview with The Times colonists this week.
"I'm full of worries about being bored or long
Win wordy or not doing paperwork justice.
But I was really excited when I saw the first copy posted from the media.
Usually, when I finish an album, all I see is what I feel like I'm failing on music.
I don't feel this way about this.
65-year-old Lee, after submitting the first draft of Gedi Lee's "bass beauty book" to his editor, found that the publishing industry does not always share the same experiencebig-or-go-Family philosophy.
He was politely asked to reduce the amount of coffee
The original 845 page of the Table book is more reasonable, which means working with HarperCollins in New York for a few weeks.
"This is the longest manuscript my editor has received," Li said with a smile.
"It seems like a miracle that we did 408 pages in the end, but I think it's actually the right decision.
Cooperation between Li and his colleagues

These pages are also interspersed with interviews with everyone at the iconic bassists

Lee recruited a support actor to help tell the story of one of the most neglected instruments in rock that he thought were.
"It is important to provide some context for people who may not yet know the tools," he said . ".
"I don't want it to be a dummy bass, but at the same time, you can't take it for granted that people know who [is]guitar maker]
Leo Fender, for example, and the development and importance of the company.
It makes it more instructive.
"Lee will travel to Victoria next week to attend a signing for Bolen books, his first official appearance since Rush held 1980 concerts at the former Memorial Arena. The event —
Given Rush's fanatic followers and his long absence from the market, organizers are expected to receive an overwhelming presence --
In June 4, Lee began his series of appearances in Canada in Montreal.

On a similar promotional tour of Gedi Lee's bass book, he enjoyed the opportunity to meet many of his long-time followers.
Rush did not make fan engagement a priority, in part, to ensure that the private lives of its members remain private.
But the book is a passionate project for Lee, who believes that the release of the book requires a more personalized approach.
"The whole idea of a book tour was a bit unusual for me.
At first, we made a mistake in trying
The traditional tour, it started to get so big, so invested, so expensive, it turned into a Cecil B.
Dermere production.
We are getting rid of the idea of engaging with fans and signing a book.
So far, book signing has produced a surprising variety of voting rates, including men, women, children and even children.
"One would not expect a book about bass guitar to leave the woodwork for a lot of people. . .
But there seems to be a connection point for a lot of fanatic fans.
"From my point of view, it was an interesting experience and a pleasant experience to spend some time with long-time fans.
I think it's also good for them.
Many of them seem excited to have a few minutes to share with Rush their thoughts on my career and what it means to them.
Harper Collins wants Lee's voice to shine in the book, and the book's creation spans two areasyear period.
Once he found the right tone, Lee injected his personality --
And trademark dry wit-into the pages.
It was hard for Lee, who is usually private, to start with, but he said it was the right decision.
"A lot of people see me at concerts and know what I'm doing, but never sit down with me and talk about something.
I like this idea.
Sit with strangers and talk about bass guitar.
At first, he said, he was "very" dependent on the stepson of the late writer, Mordecai ricchler, to help him express himself on paper other than the lyrics.
"The more confident I am, the more I feel that I am talking to others.
His long term bass technique, John (Skully)
McIntosh is another sounding board that oversees Lee's bass while he's with Rush.
Mackintosh is more of a madman. and-
This is necessary for the book, Li said, especially when it comes to the history of musical instruments.
In the process, Li learned a lot, much more than he expected.
"It was a wonderful journey to learn an instrument and I have mastered it for over 40 years and take it for granted.
In a sense, my excitement in that journey was the role of the book.
Rush is no longer an official entity, but Lee is still playing music, and he has been quoted as saying that another solo record is being discussed.
He has other interests at the moment.
Li, who has long collected everything from stamps to wine, traced his passion for vintage ephemera back to the grocery store where his mother worked when he was young.
He has never been very interested in physical products.
Li said he did not start collecting bass guitars until Rush came to an end in 2018 --
More than he has ever collected.
"I 've collected a lot of different things, and one of the things I want this book to tell is this mindset.
What is the collector?
Why are we doing this?
Why are we so spiritual?
"We have been looking for reasons for it, and the justification for it.
But at the end of the day, it is a window to understand the past and the ability to understand human thinking.
