Family of Muslim Marine recruit who committed suicide last year 'after being slapped and called a terrorist' files $100M lawsuit claiming systematic hazing - commercial boot dryer

A Michigan family of a Navy recruit has filed a $100 million lawsuit accusing him of a fatal plunge in the stairwell as a result of the humiliation and widespread negligence of officials and others.
Raheel Siddiqui died in training camp on Paris Island, South Carolina, in March 2016, when his death toll had dropped by nearly 40 feet.
He was declared suicide.
But the US Marines also said they had discovered widespread bullying of recruits and young instructors as early as 2015. The 20-year-
Old Siddiki is from Taylor, Michigan.
On Friday, his family filed a lawsuit against the federal government in Detroit, accusing the federal government of negligence in multiple levels of command.
The complaint says the Marine Corps has cultivated a culture of abuse and bullying.
U. S. Marines declined to comment on Monday.
The Marine Corps said as many as 20 people were found in 3rd boot camps that could be linked to misconduct.
Earlier this year, a survey found that Siddiqui committed suicide after being labeled "terrorists" and physically abused at the Marine Corps training camp.
An editorial report on Siddiqui's death said that on March 18, the recruits wrote a note to his instructor Gunnery Sgt.
Joseph Felix, he asked to go to the infirmary because of a sore throat.
However, it was reported that as he did not follow the proper procedures, the recruits were forced to run back and forth in the barracks.
After several runs, he began to cry and fell on the floor with his throat covered, apparently unresponsive, the report said.
Felix ordered him to get up and slapped him.
The report said that after he was slapped three times, the recruits ran out of a door and jumped up on the railing on the third floor of the barracks, where he fell to death.
According to officials, the drill instructor once called the recruit a "terrorist ".

In the month of 2016, Congress once again called for a review of the rigorous training programme for the service.

Felix allegedly threw a new recruit into the business dryer after mocking his Muslim faith, leaving burns behind. In July, Lt. Col.
Joshua kisong, commander in charge of Camp Sadiki on Parris Island, was discharged from command and accused of not complying with legitimate general orders, making false statements and not acting as an officer.
The island pack reported that the Marines admitted that Kissoon should not have Felix in charge of the recruits when Saddiqui died because he was under investigation for the dryer incident on July 2015.
Kissoon is scheduled to be tried by the General Court-
Military in March
Felix's military court will begin operations on October 30, when he will be tried for Sadiqui's suicide and treatment for another Muslim.
