It used to be easy to go out and buy a tube of toothpaste. Not anymore.
A long time ago, you found the taste you liked and you persisted.
You can be pretty sure that all the toothpaste available will do what it claims to do ---
Clean your teeth.
Recently, housework has become more complex as manufacturers roll out new recipes, trying to get buyers to switch to their brands.
Toothpaste manufacturers are now offering more than cleaning their teeth and freshening their breath.
Toothpaste designed for dental stone control, sensitive teeth, gum care;
They add baking soda, or baking soda with peroxide, or white.
You can also choose to squeeze or pump paste.
Selling this diverse product is a big deal.
The Americans spent $1.
4 billion products for 1994.
But which one will give you cleaner, brighter, healthier teeth?
Jacqueline Dzierzak, a dentist at the Chicago Dental Association, provided some advice.
It is not good for you to have too much tartar on your teeth because it can cause gum disease.
But does the tartar Control product work?
"They will control the development of tar but will not remove the tar that already exists," she said . ".
"The best time to use dental stone to control toothpaste is after you go to the dentist for professional cleaning.
"Is one brand better than the other? Dr.
Dzierzak proposed to the American Dental Association (ADA)
Stamp approved. Dr.
William Teng pas, chairman of ADA, agreed.
"Unless it protects the public, it's safe and it does what it says, we don't want our name to appear on it," he said . ".
However, if a product does not have a seal, do not automatically think that it is a bad product.
For example, you will not find the seals on gum care products because they are too new.
"The chewing gum care product contains fluoride Asia tin.
It has been shown that by reducing bacteria in the mouth, it can effectively help keep the gums healthy.
In terms of the treatment of periodontal diseases, it is definitely not.
"Before there is no toothpaste, people clean their teeth with baking soda.
Today, it has a high reputation as a clean, fresh reagent in toothpaste.
"In terms of doing better, there is no research showing that it is more effective in cleaning," Dzierzak said, however . ".
ADA recommends that you brush at least twice a day for two minutes each time, change your toothbrush every three to four months, or invest in an electric toothbrush.
Dentists say they are particularly helpful to people with arthritis.
"But if a person is brushing his teeth as often as possible and is very careful, brushing his teeth for two minutes, do you need to buy a toothbrush for $99?
"Absolutely not," said Dzierzak . ". Still confused?
Let your dentist be your guide.
Your bristles may be different from your spouse or your best friend.
There is a lot of room to choose from because there is no perfect toothpaste or toothbrush.
