OTTAWAAs Bev Oda is sitting in the political sunset, and the former Minister of International Development, known for his luxurious taste, will begin to receive her huge member's pension.
Gregory Thomas, federal director of the Canadian taxpayer Federation, said: "Official Development Assistance began to receive parliamentary pensions at a rate of $52,183 per year in August 1 . ".
As official development assistance was 67, CTF said that although only about $700,000 had been contributed, she would receive nearly $130,000 in benefits by the age of 80.
While official development assistance has successfully guided Canada's child and maternal health initiative and strengthened oversight of international aid expenditures, she is also surrounded by controversy.
Oda had to pay the taxpayer $16 for orange juice, $1,000 a day for a limo, and her expensive stay at the Savoy Hotel in London in 2011.
The QMI Agency first reported that Oda also charged taxpayers for office air purifiers so that she could smoke without detection.
"The most sad thing about bef ooda leaving Ottawa is that she is willing to make up for her smoking habits with taxpayer money," said Thomas . ".
"As they have said in the past in Ottawa, there is smoke there and there is Bev Oda there.
On July 3, official development assistance announced that she would leave politics at the end of the month.
Julian fintino has moved from deputy minister of defense to the international development department.
