I am not the best person to keep dry once the snow gets deep, it always shows up in my boots and I want to keep the boots for at least a few winter years, so, keeping them dry is the easiest way to control the smell and the easiest way to keep them warm on my feet.
But I don't have a lot of spare space for big clothes hangers, and I don't like to put everything in the clothes dryer either.

If you have to find your way home in sleet and are forced through mud and puddles, then you can easily overwhelm your boots.
Snow can enter from the top, but even worse, when it enters from the bottom or just through the opening.
The inside of the boot is hard to dry and bake.

It's a bit pricey for the price, but it has a timer so you don't over dry them and it uses mild heat so your house doesn't smell like wet boots.

Now you can dry them overnight and it will use the timer to turn it off, but you can turn it back on the first thing in the morning so you can have warm roast toes to come
