New Delhi, October 21 ()
Air purifier manufacturers have again seen their sales soar as they did in previous years, as air quality in the capital and adjacent areas could deteriorate further in the coming weeks.
While the companies again expect Delhi\'s NCR to drive sales this year, they also see demand growth in small and secondary cities other than metropolitan cities.
\"Before and after Diwali, we used to see a further drop in air quality levels, some of which will definitely translate into awareness and demand for this category,\" said Shashank Sinha, chief transformation officer of Eureka Forbes.
Unfortunately, sales of air purifiers will peak only when consumers see pollution levels rise to dangerous levels, adding that winter is more than half of sales of such products.
Although the air purifier industry is small and limited to big cities, manufacturers are experiencing double-digit high-speed growth in this area due to increased awareness of people willing to spend money to improve the air quality around them.
Among other companies, Honeywell also expects demand to increase before and after the festival when the pollution index rises.
Sudhir Pillai of Honeywell Construction Technology said, \"we have seen a sudden surge in demand for air purifiers during the smog weather in Delhi over the past two years.
The arrival of winter will only worsen air quality further and serve as a catalyst for driving sales of air purifiers.
\"Media reports of poor air quality are growing, and the WHO report highlights that 14 of India\'s top 20 cities with the worst air quality have increased consumer awareness, resulting in increased sales.
\"According to Xiaomi, people tend to buy air purifiers after pollution levels rise during the festival.
\"The key factor is activity like burning crops, and then cookies burst during the festival.
Due to these factors, our air quality is expected to drop to a more dangerous level.
\"In this case, people need a viable but effective solution to ensure that their home and work space can solve the problem,\" said Xiaomi . \".
While demand is also growing in other cities, air purifier manufacturers expect Delhi\'s NCR and neighbouring regions to take the lead in sales.
Eureka falls Sinha said, \"We expect demand in big cities and in the North to be a big part.
Overall air quality index (AQI)
According to data from the Central Pollution Control Commission, last week, Delhi\'s population was 337, which belongs to the \"very poor\" category. It was the highest this season and created a hazy environment (CPCB).
Sinha quoted Frost & Sullivan as saying that the air purifier market is expected to grow at a compound annual growth rate of 23.
2% during 201621.
\"We expect the domestic market for air purifiers to be around 2,00, 000 units per year. . . ,\" Sinha said.
